O viceversa.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per\u00f2 encara m\u00e9s, gaireb\u00e9 qualsevol investigaci\u00f3 cient\u00edfica t\u00e9 un p\u00f2sit de novel\u00b7la, polic\u00edaca o no. Perqu\u00e8 m\u00e9s enll\u00e0 de les hip\u00f2tesis, les dades i les conclusions, tota investigaci\u00f3 t\u00e9\u00a0<strong>la seva pr\u00f2pia narrativa<\/strong>, i no sols perqu\u00e8 la seva estructura \u00e9s susceptible d\u2019explicar-se, sin\u00f3 perqu\u00e8, per al seu aven\u00e7, els qui la duen a terme no deixen d\u2019explicar-se-la a ells mateixos. Inevitablement.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1345\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1345\" style=\"width: 300px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson23-1.jpg\" class=\"mfp-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-1345 lazyload\" title=\"boson2\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson23-300x200-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1345\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Representaci\u00f3 d&#8217;un experiment al CERN<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per aix\u00f2, per explicar-la, es van reunir\u00a0<strong>Sonia Fern\u00e1ndez Vidal, Martine Bosman i Tamara V\u00e1zquez\u00a0<\/strong>en el marc del programa\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.cccb.org\/kosmopolis\/es\/edicio_tema-tercera_cultura-42017?t=42648\">Tercera Cultura de Kosmopolis<\/a>. F\u00edsiques les tres, la primera ara \u00e9s escriptora i divulgadora, tot i que va col\u00b7laborar fa anys amb el CERN, el centre de Ginebra on t\u00e9 lloc la recerca del bos\u00f3. Les dues \u00faltimes treballen actualment en l\u2019experiment\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Experimento_ATLAS\">ATLAS<\/a>, un detector de 25 metres d\u2019altura en forma de capes de ceba que constitueix un dels principals elements en la recerca del fam\u00f3s bos\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Molt breument, el bos\u00f3 de Higgs \u00e9s una part\u00edcula l\u2019exist\u00e8ncia de la qual va predir Peter Higgs, entre altres cient\u00edfics, el 1964. Inobservable i indetectable en aquell moment, va ser proposada com a conseq\u00fc\u00e8ncia de certes \u00abdebilitats\u00bb del model est\u00e0ndard, el model f\u00edsic m\u00e9s acceptat i que permet explicar bona part de les caracter\u00edstiques i els comportaments de l\u2019univers. Fins llavors el model fallava a l\u2019hora d\u2019explicar l\u2019exist\u00e8ncia de mat\u00e8ria, incloent-hi la ra\u00f3 per la qual algunes part\u00edcules tenen massa i d\u2019altres (com el fot\u00f3 de la llum) no. Per aix\u00f2, es va proposar l\u2019exist\u00e8ncia de l\u2019anomenat camp de Higgs, una mena de llum obliqua que conferia massa a les part\u00edcules, segons si hi interactuava o no.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per\u00f2 el concepte, ja per si mateix esquiu, era dif\u00edcil d\u2019explicar. Per aix\u00f2 va haver de rec\u00f3rrer a les imatges (\u00e9s a dir, en el fons, rec\u00f3rrer a la literatura).<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1353\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1353\" style=\"width: 275px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson15-1.jpg\" class=\"mfp-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1353 lazyload\" title=\"boson1\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson15-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"275\" height=\"183\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1353\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Sonia Fern\u00e1ndez Vidal i Martine Bosman durant la xerrada<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aix\u00f2 va fer David Miller el 1993, quan va imaginar Margaret Thatcher com un prot\u00f3 que entrava en una reuni\u00f3 del partit\u00a0<em>tory<\/em>. Els militants que s\u2019anaven aplegant al seu voltant en dificultaven el pas, i all\u00f2 era el que donava massa al prot\u00f3. Els militants, \u00e9s clar, eren el camp de Higgs, i no haguessin fet cas de res si nom\u00e9s hagu\u00e9s aparegut per all\u00e0 un lleuger fot\u00f3.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">I aix\u00f2 va fer, d\u2019una manera menys pol\u00edtica, per\u00f2 fins i tot m\u00e9s senzilla, Sonia Fern\u00e1ndez quan va comparar el camp de Higgs amb una piscina de nens que les part\u00edcules han de travessar. Les m\u00e9s pesades (per exemple, els protons) ho faran caminant, i l\u2019aigua els oferir\u00e0 molta m\u00e9s resist\u00e8ncia que si ho fessin nedant (com ho faria un electr\u00f3).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per\u00f2, a m\u00e9s d\u2019aquestes imatges, el bos\u00f3 de Higgs en si mateix ja t\u00e9 la seva pr\u00f2pia hist\u00f2ria liter\u00e0ria. Perqu\u00e8 si \u00e9s fam\u00f3s, ho \u00e9s en part per culpa d\u2019un editor: quan Leon Lederman va escriure el seu llibre de divulgaci\u00f3\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/es.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/La_part%C3%ADcula_de_Dios:_si_el_universo_es_la_respuesta,_%C2%BFcu%C3%A1l_es_la_pregunta%3F\">La part\u00edcula de Dios: si el universo es la respuesta, \u00bfcu\u00e1l es la pregunta?<\/a><\/em>, el nom original era en realitat \u00abLa part\u00edcula male\u00efda\u00bb, en un reflex del que sentien els cient\u00edfics en aquells moments davant de l\u2019introbable bos\u00f3. Va ser l\u2019editor el qui va canviar l\u2019adjectiu pel m\u00e9s atractiu \u00abdiv\u00ed\u00bb, amb la qual cosa va contribuir a l\u2019anomenada\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/2012\/12\/15\/peter-higgs-en-barcelona\/\">Higgst\u00e8ria<\/a>\u00a0que ha tingut en els darrers anys.<\/p>\n<p>*<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><em>\u00abAltres mapes tenen formes, amb les seves illes i els seus caps!<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><em>Per\u00f2 hem d\u2019agrair al nostre valent capit\u00e0<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><em>que ens hagi portat el millor\u00a0<\/em>\u2014<em>afegien<\/em>\u2014<em>,<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\" align=\"right\"><em>un de perfecte i absolutament en blanc!\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\" align=\"right\">(<strong>Lewis Carroll.\u00a0<em>La ca\u00e7a de l\u2019Snark<\/em><\/strong>)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">L\u2019exist\u00e8ncia de massa trencava la simetria en el model est\u00e0ndard de la f\u00edsica. La troballa del bos\u00f3 demostraria el camp de Higgs, i amb aix\u00f2 retornaria l\u2019equilibri al model. Per\u00f2 la seva recerca era una aventura dif\u00edcilment predictible. I aquesta caracter\u00edstica van fer servir les conferenciants de Kosmopolis per explicar el viatge, tra\u00e7ant un paral\u00b7lelisme entre aquesta\u00a0<em>ca\u00e7a<\/em>\u00a0i la de l\u2019Snark, una criatura misteriosa i mai vista que se suposava que era una barreja de serp (<em>snake<\/em>) i taur\u00f3 (<em>shark<\/em>). O el que \u00e9s el mateix, un paral\u00b7lelisme amb el poema (narratiu)\u00a0<em>La ca\u00e7a de l\u2019Snark<\/em>, de Lewis Carroll, l\u2019autor d\u2019<em>Al\u00edcia al Pa\u00eds de les Meravelles<\/em>\u00a0(i matem\u00e0tic, d\u2019altra banda, cosa que segurament explica moltes de les particulars caracter\u00edstiques de la seva escriptura). Un paral\u00b7lelisme-pont estranyament natural i molt encertat perqu\u00e8, com s\u2019ha dit de l\u2019obra, aquesta narra:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0el viatge impossible d\u2019una tripulaci\u00f3 improbable, per trobar una criatura inconcebible.<\/em><\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_1355\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1355\" style=\"width: 150px\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson31-1.jpg\" class=\"mfp-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1355  lazyload\" title=\"boson3\" src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAAAAACH5BAEKAAEALAAAAAABAAEAAAICTAEAOw==\" data-src=\"https:\/\/dixitciencia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/boson31-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"150\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-1355\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">La ca\u00e7a del Snark<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En el cas del bos\u00f3, la tripulaci\u00f3 improbable la formen actualment m\u00e9s de 3.000 cient\u00edfics de 38 pa\u00efsos diferents, amb l\u2019esperan\u00e7a de trobar una part\u00edcula de la qual nom\u00e9s es pressuposaven certes caracter\u00edstiques, per\u00f2 la recerca de la qual no deixava de ser un mapa en blanc. Per aix\u00f2, des dels anys seixanta, es van anar construint diferents col\u00b7lisionadors de part\u00edcules d\u2019energies creixents. Perqu\u00e8, si se sabia alguna cosa, era que per trobar la part\u00edcula es necessitarien enormes quantitats d\u2019energia, en un intent molt petit de reproduir les condicions del\u00a0<strong>Big Bang<\/strong>, \u00fanica situaci\u00f3 en la qual el bos\u00f3 seria detectable. I que caldria invertir una gran quantitat de recursos en els detectors capa\u00e7os d\u2019\u00abintuir-la\u00bb, perqu\u00e8 a m\u00e9s, gaireb\u00e9 com l\u2019Snark, la part\u00edcula \u00e9s tan esquiva que apareix una vegada de cada bili\u00f3 de col\u00b7lisions, i desapareix en un temps rid\u00edcul de tan m\u00ednim. A les primeres d\u00e8cades, gaireb\u00e9 qualsevol integrant de l\u2019expedici\u00f3 hauria dit el que els ca\u00e7adors de l\u2019Snark deien, que:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0hem navegat molts mesos, per\u00f2 fins ara no hem vist ni hem olorat l\u2019Snark.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per\u00f2 el que l\u2019any 2000 ja sabien, si m\u00e9s no, era on no estava. Si existia un bos\u00f3 de Higgs, aquest no tindria una massa menor de 115 GeV (la unitat de massa o energia m\u00e9s emprada en aquest camp de la f\u00edsica de part\u00edcules). Aix\u00ed que en certa manera es pensava que:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0l\u2019Snark \u00e9s a prop, i la nostra gloriosa obligaci\u00f3 \u00e9s trobar-lo<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">i tamb\u00e9 que:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0l\u2019Snark \u00e9s una criatura molt especial. Feu tot el que no sapigueu.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Per la qual cosa:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0el van perseguir armats de didals, el van perseguir armats de precauci\u00f3. El van perseguir amb forquilles i esperances, van amena\u00e7ar la seva vida amb una acci\u00f3 del ferrocarril. El van portar amb somriures i sab\u00f3.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Aix\u00ed fins que el capit\u00e0,\u00a0<strong>una mena d\u2019Ahab<\/strong>, va dir:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0Aquest \u00e9s el lloc de l\u2019Snark. Ho he dit tres vegades, i el que jo dic tres vegades \u00e9s veritat.<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nom\u00e9s que en aquest cas el capit\u00e0 tenia al seu favor l\u2019estad\u00edstica, i en els \u00faltims mesos aquesta no li ha parlat del lloc tres vegades, sin\u00f3 tres m\u00e9s que la probabilitat que part\u00edcula trobada sigui el bos\u00f3 de Higgs \u00e9s, pel que sembla, de fins al 99,999983%.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nom\u00e9s que en aquest cas el capit\u00e0 dirigeix el CERN, es diu\u00a0<strong>Rolf-Dieter Heuer<\/strong>i el que va dir va ser:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u00a0 \u00a0Crec que el tenim, hi esteu d\u2019acord?<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\" align=\"center\"><em>\u00a0***<\/em><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>PD: En realitat l\u2019Snark era un Boojum, cosa que converteix el paral\u00b7lelisme en pr\u00e0cticament perfecte.
